Most Satisfying Experiences

I was asked a few years ago what my most satisfying experiences were These were my spontaneous responses. Since then I have thought of many more:

Making art is as much a part of my life as eating and sleeping. It is what I do. If I am not doing it I am unhappy and uneasy. I see my artistic life in two parts. There is the making and the producing. Whenever I am finishing something for showing I am producing. The rest of the time I go exploring in the wilds of Maine, following my nose and my eyes, taking notes, sketching, and having adventures to fill me with stories to tell.

I owned a business of growing and selling herbs to restaurants in the Philadelphia area from 1981 to 1984.
This was satisfying because I loved the smell of the herbs, the sunshine and planting and tending plants, and the joy of bringing the herbs to the chefs. I loved my relationship with them. I loved working for myself and working to a goal.

1996 Nuclear waste fight. Passion to use. Loved research and doing what was right. Hated politics and anger.

2000-2004 At Maine Media Workshops I created my own films.

2000-2002 School Street Arts, A children’s theater camp. I liked designing it, had trouble with specifics but found a friend who was good at it. I loved writing screenplays from books and directing plays.
Now at 79 I would put a the top of the list living with my true love on our little place in Waldo County, Maine. This is the most satisfying of all and all my friends.
