Poems from Living Here over 40 years
Twentieth Century Plantation
Hot slash, and brown dust
September 2nd,Bingham, Maine
Sappi clear cut and stumpage
Cut, tossed and left to die
I walk through a graveyard of gray, unseeing eyes
Where vascular bundles once fed great limbs
New shoots of aster, raspberry, osier dogwood,
And alder
Angle, catch, and break through the twisted carnage
I step around them, cheering them on.
